Henry Plant, a tycoon from Tampa Bay, built the luxurious Tampa Bay Hotel in 1891 where the river meets the bay. Moorish minarets and luxurious furnishings topped off the interior. The Henry Plant Museum is now a National Historic Landmark. It features original hotel furnishings that reflect Victorian life at the turn of the century.
 
 

Ybor City

Ybor City, Tampa's Latin Quarter, is one of three National Historic Landmark districts in the state. Ybor City was established in 1886 when Don Vincente Martinez Ybor, a Cuban cigar factory owner, moved his business to Tampa. Soon, other cigar manufacturers followed the lead and "Mr. Ybor's City was soon the "Cigar Capital of the World", with 12,000 "tabaqueros", who rolled 700 million cigars a calendar year in 200 factories. The cigar industry was a vibrant Latin community that brought together Spaniards from all walks of the Latin world.
 
 
Brick streets, wrought iron balconies, and globe street lamps are all a part of Ybor City's heritage and culture. Many historic buildings have been transformed into trendy coffeehouses, nightclubs, and boutiques. Ybor City is often called the "Nightlife Capital" of Florida's West Coast. Its vibrant nightlife atmosphere is created by thousands who walk in and out of trendy restaurants and bars along 7th Avenue.
 
 

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens is a 335-acre African-themed family entertainment center in Tampa that offers wild times of a different sort. This park captures the essence of Africa by allowing visitors to get up close and personal with lions. Busch Gardens has two of the most popular steel roller coasters and the fastest dueling wooden coaster. Sheikra is a new North American dive roller coaster, and was introduced in 2005.
 

 

Beach

Tampa Bay residents slow down and head to the beach to soak up the sun. The semi-tropical climate is characterized by a temperature average of 71 degrees. There's plenty of sun here. There are 35 miles of sugary, white sand along Tampa Bay's coast.

Central Tampa

It's so popular on weekends that it's been called the "nightlife capital" of Florida's Gulf Coast. Channelside is a popular entertainment complex that is located next to the cruise terminal. It's fast becoming a hot spot for nightlife.
