It seems like the duo of Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode is set to return for the second season of the much-awaited British TV series, A Discovery of Witches. They both are not just back, but they will be seen together in Elizabethan London! A first look image of the second season was recently released by Sky One channel. It proved that we will definitely witness our beloved lead characters jumping back into the time.
We know that the show is based on the All Souls trilogy written by Deborah Harkness. It means we are definitely going to get not one but two more seasons of A Discovery of Witches. The second and the third seasons will be focused on the storylines of Shadow of Night (2012) and Book of Night (2014) respectively. The group of Kate Brooke, Tom Farrelly, Charlene James, and Sarah Dollard is has been assigned to pen down the screenplay of its television version.

A Discovery of Witches Season 2: What will we see?
The plot revolves around the character of Diana Bishop who wants to become a permanent professor at Oxford University. She tries really hard to hide her true identity from others. She is also a witch. However, she’s not trained yet. She doesn’t know how to control her powers.
While trying to complete her work at the Bodleian Library, Diana accidentally comes in contact with a magical book named Ashmole 782. Most of the people believed that the book was a complete myth. But its sudden appearance changes everything. She also receives a wound on her hand from the book. A vampire named, Matthew Clairmont, is also interested in getting his hands on that book. Vampires are on the verge of losing their powers. That’s why Matthew wants that book to cure and protect his species from extinction.
On the other hand, we have Peter Knox. He is a member of the Congregation. His goal is to wipe out the entire existing generation of vampires. He seeks out for Diana’s help. But she chooses Matthew over him which results in some serious consequences.
As we mentioned earlier that the upcoming season will show us glimpses of Elizabethan London. We are also expecting the revelation of Diana’s past. Her relationship with Matthew will be explored in greater detail. Will she be able to control her powers and realize her true potential?

Teresa Palmer will be back to portray her role of Diana Bishop. We will also see Matthew Goode alongside her playing the role of Matthew Clairmont. The supporting cast includes talents like Edward Bluemel (Marcus Whitmore), Aiysha Hart (Miriam Shepherd), Malin Buska (Satu Järvinen), Louise Brealey (Gillian Chamberlain), Alex Kingston (Sarah Bishop), Valerie Pettiford (Emily Mather), and many more. Ser Alliser Thorne from GOT aka Owen Teale is also expected to reprise his character of Peter Knox.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Release Date: When will it release?
We had a release date of the second season this year. But the makers had no choice but to delay its release date, thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is a chance that we may get to watch the second season in 2021.
