The team had planned initially to release on April 8 but later canceled as it will clash with the James Bond film series No Time To Die.

Originally Dwayne Johnson was set to return to the movie, but he declined as he was working for the spin-off movie Hobbs and Shaw. The story revolves around the feud between the street racer Dominic Toretto and his evil brother Jakob. It does indicate the rivalry due to some reasons between the brothers.
