The Japanese seinen manga series that has the same name as its anime series, written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka, has already hit screens with the second season of the series and will continue shortly with more upcoming episodes. The series was aired from January 12 to March 30, 2019, across the globe consisting of 16 episodes in total.
What have we seen in the first season?
The story revolves around the various schemes of student council president, Miyuki Shirogane, and vice-president, Kaguya Shinomiya, who have feelings for each other but are unable to confess the same over their pride. Kaguya is the daughter of a wealthy joint family, and Miyuki is the top student at the school. Their motto being, winning the war of love by making the other confess first.
The first season begins with Chika buying two movie tickets and giving the same to her friend, Miyuki. After receiving the tickets, Miyuki wonders whether to invite Kaguya for the movie. Kaguya has feelings for Miyuki and wants to go to the movie with him.
Following this, Kaguya gets a love letter but is stopped by Miyuki from opening the same, still keeping his love for her, a secret. Though she hides her feelings from Miyuki, Kaguya gets jealous when she sees Chika and Miyuki sharing their tiffin.
Coming towards the of the first season, we come to find out that the Student Council decides to go on a trip in their summer vacations before which they are attacked by a typhoon, forcing them to replan their summer vacation.
The season ends with Kaguya and her friends going to the summer festival, see the fireworks, and Kaguya and Miyuki still unable to confess their feelings for each other.
What have we seen up to now in the second season?
The second season continues from the first with Kaguya tricking Miyuki into falling asleep on her shoulders and spending some time with him, alone in the Student Council room. Following this, the Kaguya plans to trick Miyuki further into revealing the dates of his approaching birthday in public.
Soon Miyuki’s birthday arrives, and he receives a fan from Kaguya as his present, which makes Chika suspicious as to why only Kaguya celebrated his birthday. Following Miyuki’s birthday celebrations, the election nears.
Lastly, we see Miyuki come face-to-face with his opponent, Miko Iino, who quickly takes Chika on her side.
