The American superhero drama series first premiered in 2017. With an 8.5 IMDb and staggering praise for this web series, The Punisher season 2 has become one of Netflix’s most loved shows. A treat for Marvel fans, it is a spin-off to Marvel’s Daredevil and is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, providing a rather new addition to the MCU.

PLOT: SEASON 1 AND 2

The Punisher is about Marine veteran Frank Castle whose family is brutally murdered and he sets out to avenge their deaths. After he reaches this aim, he sets out to discover the underworld of New York. Shot in New York, this series delves into action, crime and thrill at different points throughout season 1. The series is extremely gripping and action-oriented with enough elements of pain and heartbreak.

Season 2 shows Frank Castle saving a girl from getting murdered and his hesitance when it comes to embodying the role of The Punisher throughout his life.

The most signficant cast members of season 1 and season 2 include-

Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (aka Punisher), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as David Lieberman, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Daniel Webber as Lewis Wilson, Paul Schulze as William Rawlins, Michael Nathanson as Sam Stein, Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, and more.

Further, actors Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham could be seen in season 2 alongside the main cast members who reprised their roles.

RELEASE DATE OF SEASON 2

Although season 2 released on January 18, 2019, Netflix cancelled the series for future releases. Thus, season 2 (consisting of 13 episodes) released in the beginning of the previous year itself, marking an end to this series.

Even though fans are hopeful, The Punisher is quite unlikely to return to Netflix.
