The Last Kindom is a British series, originally based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories series. Considered as one of the most popular British television shows, Netflix took over its production and released season 2 and 3 worldwide. Viewers have often compared The Last Kingdom to popular series Game of Thrones. With positive reviews and critical acclaim earned by The Last Kingdom, Netflix has confirmed that season 4 will be released this year itself.

SETTING AND PLOT OF THE SERIES

With most of the series shot in Hungary, the series depicts 9th century England which has been divided into nine distinct kingdoms. The story revolves around the lead Uhtred, whose elder brother is murdered in an invasion by Danes. When other members of his family are killed, he and a young girl named Brida are captured and kept as slaves by Earl Ragnar. Uhtred is trained to be a warrior and grows up in his new home until he is forced to choose between his motherland and those who raised him.

This series will delve into the war Uhtred is waging against his uncle. His children will also be shown. The trailer has already been released and offers us some insight into what will happen in this season.

Alexander Dreymon plays Uhtred of Bebbanburg, David Dawson as King Alfred, Tobias Santelmann plays Ragnar, Emily Cox plays Brida, Adrian Bower plays Leofric, Peter McDonald plays Brother Trew, Mark Rowley plays Finan, Alexandre Willaume plays Kjartan, Julia Bache-Wiig plays Thyra, etc.

New cast members for this season are Jamie Blackley and Stefanie Martini.
