An American superhero Web Television series”The Umbrella Academy” is full of black comedy, drama, science fiction, and fantasy. This series is created by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater and is based on the comic book series of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics.

This series consisting of 10 episodes premiered on Netflix on February 15, 2019, receiving positive reviews and appreciation for the cast and visuals. Within a month, this series got around 45 million viewers prompting the producer to renew the series for a second season.

On November 24, 2019, Showrunner Steve Blackman reported that shooting for the second season of The Umbrella Academy had completed. So the second season is expected to be released in the second half of 2020.

The plot of “The Umbrella Academy.”

This series revolves around the life of superhero siblings of “The Umbrella Academy.” They all possessed mysterious powers that they use in fighting against crime except Vanya, whose powers to convert sound waves into destructive waves were suppressed by his father with drugs to keep others safe. These siblings had parted their own ways, but after the death of their adopted father, Sir Reginald Hargreaves, they all reunited to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse.

Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger with the siblings trying to stop Vanya from bringing about the apocalypse, but they failed in their attempt, ultimately jumping back in time.

The first season gave information about the seven children adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreever, but what about the rest? Season 2 might uncover the story of the other children.

The second season will reveal more about Reginald and the mystery of his sudden death. It is expected that Season 2 will follow the plotline of the second volume of the comic, Dallas, which deals with the academy trying to assassinate JFK to save the world by preventing the apocalypse.


The seven superhero siblings will certainly be back in the second season. Other characters expected to be returning include Mary J.Blige as Cha-Cha, Cameron Britton as Hazel, Sheila McCarthy as Agnes, Kate Walsh, etc.
