‘The Chi Season 3’: Release date, plot, cast (Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine and more) and latest updates


The Chi has been created by Emmy winner Lena Waithe and is one of Showtime’s most anticipated series. With generally positive reviews from critics, The Chi has also garnered a string of Black Reel nominations and even won one for its outstanding direction.


This series depicts Chicago’s South Side, where a bunch of residents becomes connected due to a series of unfortunate events. Even though they are used to the atrocities and lurking dangers of their own neighborhood, they face tough scenarios often. Now they must come together and protect themselves, with certain decisions to make that could cause life and death consequences. This season is scheduled to take off from season 2 and will delve into the lives of Otis, Emmett, and the rest of the main cast’s fate.

The trailer has caused a widespread curiosity among fans as everyone wishes to see how the show will progress without Jason Mitchell, who used to play the lead, Brandon. Most are expecting him to be killed off from the show, with the focus moving on to other characters and a possible introduction of a new lead character.


Jacob Latimore as Emmett Washington, Yolanda Ross as Jada Washington, Shamon Brown Jr. as Stanley “Papa” Jackson, Alex Hibbert as Kevin Williams, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Ronnie Davis, Michael V. Epps as Jake Taylor, Birgundi Baker as Kiesha Williams, and Common as Selma will once again reprise their roles.

Additionally, Showtime officially declared the inclusion of new cast members for the next season. Cory Hardrict will portray the rapper Dante, Joel Steingold, as Martin St. John, Salvador Chacon, who will play a nurse and Lil Rel Howery as Zeke Remnick.


As per Showtime’s official website, The Chi will premiere on SUNDAY, JUNE 21 at 9 PM ET/PT.
