Designated Survivor as thrilling and enigmatic the name sounds, the series is a popular American political-thriller drama television web series created by David Guggenheim. The series has aired on ABC for its first two seasons( continuously but in parts).

However, the season three aired on exclusively only on Netflix. It’s most importantly a conspiracy. The series was to start filming on December 14, 2015, followed by a formal announcement in the middle of the month of May.

The first episode of the season one of the Designated Survivor broadcasted on September 21, 2016. The audience that it was released to is calculated to be more than 10 million viewers. The full series consisting of ten episodes was released further.

The series again was renewed for a second season on May 11, 2017, and it premiered on September 27, 2017. In the year 2018, ABC canceled the series after two seasons.

After such a cancellation Netflix and Entertainment One pulled up the series back and wanted it to renew it for the third season and fix the deal. The third season got premiered on June 7, 2019.

The story of the series goes like showing an American politician named as the designated survivor for the state of the Union address. One night when the State if the Union has to happen, there occurs an explosion that destroys the Capital building, killing the President and everyone who stood in after that in the line of succession for the presidential post itself, except for the U.S Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

The cast of the designated survivor included Kiefer Sutherland ( as Tom Kirkman, the lead character or hero), Natascha McElhone ( as Alex Kirkman), Adan Canto ( as Aaron Shore), Italia Ricci ( as Emily Rhode), Monica Garrett ( as Mike Ritter), etc.

However, in July 2019 Netflix canceled the series saying that the third season served as a satisfactory finale and there was no need for season 4, as the viewers and ratings we’re continuous, it wouldn’t be advisory on the part of the production team to waste money and also space that is used for streaming can be used somewhere else( or a new/better series).

If there would be have been a season 4 then the lead cast from season 3 would have returned and the season would have been based on Tom’s moral compass, political issues, and bigger consequences.
