The award-winning show Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for Season 4.
In May 2018, Hulu renewed the series for a third season, which premiered on June 5, 2019. In July 2019, the series was renewed for a fourth season. In September 2019, it was announced that Hulu and MGM were developing a sequel series, to be based on Atwood’s 2019 novel The Testaments.
Unlike the last three seasons, Handmaid’s Tale season 4 won’t premiere before the fall of 2020. The season 4 was renewed before the premiere of 3rd season. The series started it’s filming in March in Toronto, Canada, and is currently in its production stage.

Season 4 of the series will have 10 episodes. In an Interview with Indiwire, Bruce Miller commented on the fewer number of episodes in the 4th season, ” From my point of view, [the decision] was 100% creative, some storylines just seem to shake out as a 10-episode story, in my eyes. I feel like it gives us a little more freedom because you can rely more on one propulsive element.” It is expected to release in the latter part of 2020.

All the major characters are expected to reprise their roles in the new season like Elisabeth Moss as June, Joseph Fiennes as Fred Waterford, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Waterford, Samira Wiley as Moira, Alexis Bledel as Emily, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, Max Minghella as Nick Blaine, O-T Fagbenle as Luke Bankole, Bradley Whitford as Commander Joseph Laurence, Clea Duvall as Sylvia and Amanda Brugel as Rita. However, we might witness new faces in the upcoming season as well.
There is no official information regarding the plot of the show. Instead, Miller said in an interview with Indiewire, ” Don’t try to guess what happens in the show. That’s a fool errand, and you will not be able to know what happens .” That’s the beauty of the show.
