Hocus Pocus was originally a 1993 comedy-horror dark fantasy movie which released on 16 July 1993 and was made by Walt Disney Pictures.
The movie then starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Omri Katz, Thora Birch, and Vinessa Shaw. The story followed the plot where a teenage boy, Max, living in Salem, Massachusetts, resurrects a trio of witches on Halloween night who were cursed 300 hundred years ago. The movie actually ended with the spellbook, around which the plot is stemmed, opens its eye to denote that the witches who were imprisoned again, might still return in the future.
And now, a sequel of Hocus Pocus is .under production to be featured at Disney+ based on the screenplay by Jen D’Angelo.
Hocus pocus 2, when and what :
There is still no official news or announcement in the topic that whether Hocus Pocus 2 will be a direct sequel of the first movie or not.
Disney along with other production houses has opted into the trend of re-creating it’s classics to overdrive the audience with nostalgia. And since Disney+ is a fairly new platform and there are innumerable new content being introduced, it will be fair to say that we’re all in for a magical treat!
Last year, Hocus Pocus completed 25 years and the creators probably think that it is the best of times to release a second installment.
With all of the above factors in mind, the sequel could be either as fast-tracked as late 2020 or early 2021!
With Disney’s style in mind, we can expect some of the old cast to star again in the new movie as a tribute. Or it might be possible that completely new characters are taken in for a new story and experience.
Since the production and script are already under process, it’s safe for us to be expecting the movie soon. There is a fair amount of buzz and fan-made trailers in circulating all around currently, but we are still waiting for an official release by Disney itself!
Until then you can dive into the magical world of witches by rewatching the original version and we promise that we’ll be the first ones to keep you posted on any new information about the sequel.
